ECASD Board of Directors Hires Track Coaches

The Ellwood City Area School District’s Board of Directors hired Alan Marsh and Nathan Brown to serve as co-head varsity track coaches during its February 10 meeting.

Historically, the track team had one head coach and four assistant coaches. Because of the hiring of co-head coaches, the team will have only three assistants this year, according to ECASD Superintendent Dr. Wesley Shipley.

Volleyball

The board also voted to classify Middle School Volleyball as a sport and an eighth grade coach and seventh grade coach fall under the guise of the Head Volleyball Coach and under the pay matrix with all other Middle School coaches. Previously middle school volleyball was categorized as a club sport.

Bocce

The board recognized the district’s bocce team for another successful season. Coaches John DiBuono and Mandie Szakelyhidi were in attendance with a number of athletes from the team. Shipley gave a certificate of recognition to each athlete.

School Colors

Following discussion at numerous recent board of directors meetings, the board decided to recognize the official school colors as royal blue and white with black as an accent color only. The colors are listed in policy 920.

Guidelines include:

  • All items purchased and distributed by booster organizations shall have the the official school colors of royal blue, white, and black.
  • All competition uniforms shall only use the official school colors.
  • All warm-up uniforms and sweatshirts/sweatpants may have Ellwood City Area School District identifiers (logos and/or name) printed on material that has a base color of royal blue, white, black, or gray.
