Ellwood City Wrestling Set To Finish Season Strong; Senior Night Wednesday

The Ellwood City Wrestling team is set to have its only home match of the season on Wednesday, February 9th against Sharon.

The Wolverines (3-7 Overall, 2-2 League) will recognize its seniors during the home match for a Senior Night festivities.

The team features two seniors, Jaden Stull (his first year wrestling) and Donavin Stiffler (his second year wrestling).

The team will celebrate Senior Night and then varsity will wrestle beginning at 7:00 p.m.

There will be no junior high wrestlers in attendance as a rescheduled tournament has the junior high team at a MAC tournament in Freedom on Wednesday.

According to the team boosters, Jaden wants to move back to Georgia, get into real estate and start his own businesses. Donavin is currently attending Vo-Tech and wants to work at a construction job and save money to open his own business.

The teams are scheduled to compete at the following events:

  • WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 9th – Sharon Dual at HOME, SENIOR NIGHT 6:45PM , Varsity 7PM (JH will be at MAC tournament)
  • WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 9th (moved from 2/3) – JH MAC Tournament @ Freedom 4:30PM start
  • THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 10th, – (orig scheduled for 2/3, JH was added) & Varsity dual @ Slippery Rock start 6PM JH Varsity follows
  • SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 12th – JH Tournament @ Sharon 12:30PM start

According to PA-Wrestling.com statistics, Stiffler is one of three Ellwood City wrestlers with a winning record on the season, currently holding at 13-12 record. Junior Ben Gallenz (12-10 record) and freshman Derek Allen (15-9 record) also hold winning records on the season for the Wolverines. [VIEW FULL TEAM ROSTER/SCHEDULE/STATS]

The Ellwood City Wrestling team has recently posted a 3rd place finish at the WPIAL AA Section 2-A Duals qualifying tournament at Laurel High School in January. The team also competed at the at the Buckeye Local Panther Classic Tournament in Rayland, OH, on January 29th with Ben Gallenz collecting a 4th place finish.
