Frank J. Aquino, 84

Mr. Frank J. Aquino, 84, of Ellwood City passed away on Tuesday, January 18th, 2022 at the UPMC Jameson Hospital in New Castle.

Mr. Aquino was born in Beaver Falls on February 15th, 1937 to the late Dominic and Mary (Reda) Aquino. He had graduated from Beaver Falls High School, where he was a letterman in football, basketball and baseball, with the class of 1955.  Following high school, Frank enlisted with the United Sates Marine Corp on June 20th, 1956 and served until his discharge on July 19th, 1958 as an aircraft repairman with the rank of Private First Class. In 1961 Frank studied at the PGA Business School and continued to attend educational seminars becoming a Professional Golfer. From 1958 to 1962 he was an apprentice at the Beaver Valley Country Club, from 1962, when he was elected into the PGA, to 1963 he worked as the Head Professional at the Juniper Golf Club in Redmond, Oregon, from 1963 to 1965 he was the Assistant Pro at the Pittsburgh Field Club, from 1966 to 1969 he was the Head Professional at Nottingham Country Club in Eighty Four, PA, in 1970 he was the Head Professional at the Aventura Country Club in Fort Lauderdale, FL, and from 1972 until his retirement in 1999 he was the Head Professional at the Blackhawk Golf Course in Beaver Falls.

After retiring Frank continued to work part time for five more years at the Blackhawk Golf Course. During his career as a Professional Golfer he made four holes in one. He is a life member of the Professional Golfers Association, and a member of the American Legion. Frank also is a member of the Lady of the Valley, Holy Family Parish in New Brighton. He enjoyed watching college football and the PGA Tours.

He is survived by his wife Ethel M. (Smith-Ferrante) Aquino whom he married on January 2nd, 1988, daughters, Joni (Albert) Lafleur of Stuart, FL and Kathy (Doug) Doran of West Palm Beach, FL, son, John D. Aquino of Fort Lauderdale, FL, grandchildren, Daniel (Christine) Lafleur and Jarrett Lafleur, and great-grandchildren, Grayson and Maverick Lafleur.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Edith Gasper and Elaine Zuk, and brothers, Louis and Joseph Aquino.

Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-6 pm at the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., those attending are asked to wear a mask. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday at 10:00 am at the Lady of the Valley, Holy Family Church in New Brighton with Father Bill Schwartz officiating. Interment will follow at the St. Mark’s Cemetery in Franklin Twp.. Members of the Veterans Honor Guard are asked to meet at the church on Monday by 10:45 am to conduct full military honors.
