PART 1: Winter Sports Q&A – Ellwood City

Winter sports have arrived in Ellwood City.

Basketball and hockey are among the popular sports for students at Lincoln High School. We caught up with the athletes of those teams to see what they are doing to prepare for the upcoming rivalries, to offer some perspective on the season ahead and their plans for the future.

This is part one of a two part series featuring area senior student athletes in excel in winter sports. Our Riverside winter sports Q&A segment is coming later this week.

Drake Tomak

How long have you been playing hockey? I’ve been playing hockey since I was seven years old.

What is your favorite thing about the sport? I love the camaraderie I have with my team mates and the competition of the games.

What are your plans for after graduation? Will you play sports after high school? I plan on playing junior hokey after high school.

What is your favorite memory from your hockey career thus far? It would have to be scoring the overtime winner against Neshannock.

What are you most looking forward to this upcoming season? Senior Night and hopefully some playoff games in the future.

 

Cody Williams

How long have you been playing hockey? I’ve been playing hockey since I was nine years old.

What is your favorite thing about the sport? The emotions it brings and the pace of the game.

What are your plans for after graduation? Will you play sports after high school? I am planning to attend a four-year college and play club hockey there.

What is your favorite memory from your hockey career thus far? It would either be playing for a championship in JV or scoring the overtime goal to win a playoff game in middle school.

What are you most looking forward to this upcoming season? Continuing to play together as a team and hopefully make it into the playoffs.

 

Alexander Roth

How long have you been playing basketball? I have been playing basketball for eleven years now.

What is your favorite part of basketball? Being able to play with my brother but also my team mates.

 What are your plans for after graduation? I am planning to attend a four year college.

Favorite memory? Winning a WPIAL Championship with my brothers and team mates.

What are you most looking forward to this season? Getting better individually and as a team and winning games.

 

Kyla Servick

How long have you been playing basketball? I have been playing basketball for eleven years or so now.

 What is your favorite part of basketball? My favorite part of basketball is being apart of a team and how intense the games can get.

Any plans for after graduation? I am planning to go to college for Pre-Health and plan to play basketball.

 Favorite memory? My favorite memory is beating Mohawk my freshman year to make the playoffs for the first time.

What are you most looking forward to this season? I am most looking forward to spending my last season with my family and my team and achieving all of our goals together.
