HARRISBURG – The Commonwealth Financing Authority has awarded $2.5 million in grants to four projects located in Beaver, Butler and Lawrence counties, according to Sen. Elder Vogel (R-47).
Three of the grants were awarded through the Multimodal Transportation Fund Program:
A $1 million grant for the City of New Castle, Lawrence County, to make roadway, sidewalk and trail improvements within the Enterprise Park section of New Castle, with all the planned work focused on making Enterprise Park safer and more accessible.
Betters Real Estate Holdings L.P. has received a $1 million grant for the installation of rail lines at a future business park located in Center Township, Beaver County, which will complete the connection to a 900-foot dock along the Ohio River, creating a rail/river and river/rail capability interchange with Aliquippa & Ohio River Rail lines.
A $400,000 grant was awarded to Zelienople Borough, Butler County, for Phase III streetscape improvements within the borough’s central business district along Main Street.
Harmony Township, Beaver County, received a $100,000 grant through the Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program to renovate the playground at Beaver Road Park, including replacement of outdated equipment, installation of a new play surface and sensory enhancement to the play area.
The CFA was established as an independent agency of the Commonwealth to administer Pennsylvania’s economic stimulus packages. The CFA holds fiduciary responsibility over the funding of programs and investments in Pennsylvania’s economic growth.
