Saxon Club to Host Steel City Comedy Tour; Public Welcome

Ready to laugh until your ribs hurt?

Look no further than the Ellwood City Saxon’s Club’s Comedy Night featuring The Steel City Comedy Tour. And you don’t have to be a member to attend as the side splitter is open to the public.

The event will be held on Saturday, November 13th, at the club on 901 Millview Street. Doors open at 7:30 p.m., and the show starts at 9:00 p.m. Tickets are $10 pre-sale (see bartender) and $15 at the door. Must be 21 to attend.

Bob Karenbauer, president of the Saxon’s entertainment committee, said the event is sure to be a hit.
“We’ve done it in the past and it was a great show with a great turnout,” Karenbauer said.

Karenbauer added that the show is a true hometown value considering that big city talent is coming to Ellwood City.

“We don’t see these types of shows here often,” he said. “It’s a great opportunity to see really great comedy if you can’t make it to Pittsburgh. I went to a show and enjoyed it.”

In addition, Karenbauer said the beer prices will stay at member level even though the public is invited.

He said the lineup is top-notch and includes his funny friend and leader of comedy tour Chuck Kreiger.

Kreiger, along with the other three comedians, reside in the state—many growing up in this region. He began his comedic journey in the 1990s at Pittsburgh’s Funny Bone. In 2000, the Steel City Comedy Tour began and Kreiger has been performing with them since then.

“The Steel City Comedy Tour takes top notch comedians to rural areas,” he said.

Much of the comedy tours work takes place in rural areas as fundraisers for local fire departments, clubs, and charitable organizations.

“We’ve performed at 50 different fire departments,” he said.

According to Kreiger, prior to the pandemic, the group was putting on 150 shows per year. He said they are doing about half that amount currently but are working back up to a full lineup.

Showgoers can expect comedy just as you would experience it at a comedy club. Kreiger said that although the show does feature adult humor and light cursing, the show is something anyone can enjoy.

Kreiger will be joined by fellow comedians Tim Ross, Kevin Budkey, and Andreas O’Rourke.

“They are all solid and funny guys,” Kreiger said.
