Merle H. Rhodes, 76 of Youngstown, OH formerly of Ellwood City passed away on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at Canfield Place Assisted Living.
Born in Olean, NY on April 3, 1945, Merle was the son of the late Cleone L. and Millie Remington Rhodes. Merle was an operations supervisor for Columbia Gas Transmissions. He was a veteran of the Army serving with the 82nd Airborne in Vietnam and Korea. Merle will be remembered as a kind and accepting person with a good sense of humor, who never met a stranger. He always knew how to light up a room. He will be missed and was loved by many.
Merle is survived by his 2 children, Natalie Lynn Rhodes of Butler, PA and Nathan J. Rhodes of Charlotte, NC, sisters, Wanda Wilson of Boardman, OH and Shirley Boser of Bradford, PA and brothers, Dale Rhodes of Obi, NY and William Rhodes of Bradford, PA, 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Merle was preceded in death by his former wife, Suzanne Amore Rhodes, a brother, Wayne Rhodes and a sister, Pearl Cargill.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. Bonaventure Church in Allegany, NY on Friday, November 5th at 9:30 AM
Interment will be in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
