POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

NOISE DISTURBANCE:
Amber Jewel Perez, 36, of Ellwood City, is charged with aggravated harassment, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, public intoxication and harassment earlier this month. According to a criminal complaint, officers were called to the neighborhood of Loop Street where they heard loud music coming from a residence. Perez and another woman were in a hot tub on the porch playing loud music. The police instructed them to turn down the music and Perez complied. At 5:35 a.m., the police were sent back to the address for another disturbance. A caller reported that the music was getting louder. Perez emerged from the house, yelled at police, and the officers told her she was being cited for disorderly conduct. A neighbor approached and told the officers that Perez had thrown glass bottles onto Loop Street and threatened to slash his tires. Perez continued screaming and yelling at the officers and refused to sign the citation and she spit on one of them. She was taken to the Ellwood City police station and placed in a holding cell. Perez was arraigned and committed her to the Lawrence County jail on a $50,000 bond.

HARASSMENT:
On August 25th at approximately 9:09 a.m., PA State Police New Castle responded to a report of harassment in North Beaver Township, Lawrence County. According to the report, and information received from a 30-year-old victim, while the victim was driving on Mohawk School Road, the victim observed and identified Matthew Bales, 31, of New Castle, as he appeared irate, followed the victim in his vehicle, and became confrontational with the victim, yelling and screaming. Bales was subsequently charged with one count of harassment. The charge was filed upon information received and will be pending through the office of District Judge Jennifer L. Nicholson.

WARRANT OUT OF STATE:
On October 11, at approximately 10:33 a.m., PA State Police were contacted about suspicious persons/vehicles in the area of Braden Road and McRoberts Road in Darlington Township. On checking the area, the suspicious vehicle was located and a traffic stop was initiated due to improper registration. During the course of the stop it was determined that the operator, Cortni Rankin, 30, of Columbiana, had false identification and had active warrants in Ohio. It was also learned the passenger, Jordan McMillan, 27, of Columbiana, also had active warrants in Ohio. Rankin and McMillan were housed in Beaver County Jail prior to extradition to Ohio.
Ranki was also charged with False Identification to Law Enforcement as well as traffic citations.



HARRASMENT:
On October 9, at approximately 1:51 a.m., PA State Police investigated a report of harassment at a residence on Harlansburg Road, Hickory Township, Lawrence County. It was reported that the 46-year-old male defendant pushed a 49-year-old female victim into a wall causing minor injury.

HIT AND RUN:
On October 10, at approximately 3:35 p.m., PA State Police were dispatched to a hit and run crash on Mount Jackson Road, New Beaver Township, Lawrence County. On scene the property owner said they heard the crash at 1:00 a.m., but when they looked out the window no vehicles were around. The vehicle hit their mailbox, ran it over along with the metal pole. There was a black plastic front end parts left at the scene. On the back of the parts it said MOPAR. The vehicle was traveling west bound. Anyone with information of the vehicle or the driver, please contact PSP New Castle.

THEFT/FORGERY:
On Thursday, October 7, at approximately 12:06 a.m., officers were dispatched to the Ellwood City UniMart Gas Station for a report of fraud. According to the criminal complaint, officers made contact with store employees who related that George Makepeace, 38, of Ellwood City, passed a counterfeit $20 bill when purchasing two cans of soda. Officers seized the counterfeit bill which, according to police felt thin and have wording in Russian Cyrillic script in place of serial numbers on the bill, and placed into evidence. Employees also stated that Makepeace had attempted to pass a similar counterfeit bill one week prior. The store owner will provide video surveillance to police. Based on the information provided, Makepeace is charged with Forgery and Theft by Deception.

DUI:
Cody Bouzek, 31, of Darlington, is charged with DUI after a traffic stop on September 28. According to the criminal complaint, at approximately 9:43 p.m., police were dispatched to an area of Portersville Road and Railroad Street for a report of a one vehicle motorcycle accident. Upon arrival police observed a black and orange Harley Davidson motorcycle entangled into a fence at INMETCO and disabled. Bouzek was transported by ambulance and flown to a Pittsburgh hospital with major injuries to his legs. A first witness to the scene of accident who rendered aid to Bouzek until medics arrived advised that Bouzek smelled of alcohol while two additional interviewees advised seeing Bouzek at nearby bars. A subpoena will be served to obtain the BAC results and the defendant is charged with DUI, Reckless Driving and Careless Driving.

DUI:
William Haney, 25, of Ellwood City, is charged with DUI after an incident on October 6 at approximately 2:22 a.m. According to the criminal complaint, police were called to the Ellwood City McDonalds where a caller stated Haney pulled up next to her in line and was highly intoxicated and yelling. While in route to the call, police observed a vehicle matching the description and followed as it did not stop until it pulled into a driveway on Hickory Way where police conducted a traffic stop where Haney failed the field sobriety test and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence.

DUI:
Andrew Birch, 29, of New Castle, is charged with driving under the influence after a traffic stop on July 3, 2021. According to the report, and at approximately 2:08 a.m., PA State Police initiated the traffic stop upon a vehicle speeding on Ellwood Road (PA-65 North) near the intersection with Links Drive in Shenango Township. Upon further investigation it was determined that Birch displayed indicators of impairment, and he was subsequently arrested for suspicion of DUI.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT:
Ethan Barron-Fowler, 19, of Butler, is charged with Disorderly Conduct after a traffic stop on Route 422 on September 11. According to the criminal complaint, at approximately 12:41 a.m. police initiated a traffic stop for a vehicle with a headlight out. After making cotnact with the driver, the odor of marijuana and a strong odor of alcohol was coming from the inside the vehicle. After verbal consent to search, police located a small amount of marijuana from under the rear seat. Barron-Fowler was the rear seat passenger and stated the marijuana was his and that he had consumed alcholic beverages while being under the age of 21.
