Riverside senior Logan Greer was among the 18 golfers who qualified for PIAA Championships after his fifth place finish at the par-70 Allegheny Country Club in Sewickley, PA, during the WPIAL AA Boys Individual Final & PIAA Qualifier event.
Greer fired an 8-over round of 78 (40-38) on the afternoon. Steady on the front nine with four pars and only five bogies, Greer collected his only birdie of his round with a three on the par-4 17th hole.
Greer was among five golfers who finished with respective rounds of 78. Eighteen of the 70 competitors qualified for the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) 2A Individual Championships to be held on October 18-19.
Missing the cut, Ellwood City senior Milo Sesti finished with round of 88 (42-46) and Zac Polojac finished with a round of 105 (58-47). Last week, Sesti recorded a 75 (+3) to take home the Section 5-AA Qualifier medalist honor last week.
The Riverside Golf Team qualified for the WPIAL Class-AA Team Playoffs and will join a host of schools participating at Indian Run Golf Course on Tuesday, October 12. The team will try to qualify for the Team Championships scheduled for Thursday, October 14 at Cederbrook Gold Golf Course
Riverside will join Carmichaels, Hopewell, McGuffey, Neshannock, Northgate, Quaker Valley, South Side Area, and Waynesburg on the course with a tee time scheduled for 9:00 a.m. The top three teams advance.
