Rita Mazzanti, 86, of Frisco, passed away on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at the home of her son, Ray in New Castle.
Born on January 20, 1935 in New Castle, Rita was the daughter of the late Luigi and Virginia Pacella Nocera. She married Alfred “Fred” Mazzanti on July 18, 1955. Rita worked as a dietitian at both the Ellwood City Hospital and Hillview Manor. A member of Holy Redeemer Parish, Rita enjoyed attending Challenges and trips to the casino. She faithfully cooked dinner for her family every Sunday and she loved spending time with them, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Rita is survived by her husband, Alfred “Fred” Mazzanti of Frisco, two sons, Fred (Kathleen) Mazzanti of Ellwood City, Ray (Stephanie) Mazzanti of New Castle, a daughter-in-law, Colleen Mazzanti of Ellwood City, a brother, Louis Nocera of Ellwood City, sister-in-law, Mary Nocera Porter of New Castle, 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Rita was preceded in death by a son, Stephen M. Mazzanti, a great-grandson, Justin Park, a daughter-in-law, Kathryn Mazzanti, two brothers, Anthony Nocera and Julius Nocera and three sisters, Mollie Mazzanti, Isabell Alberico and Mary Vellone.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, October 6th from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Joseph A. Tomon, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 97 Grim Avenue, Ellport.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 7th at 10:00 AM at Holy Redeemer Church with Fr. Mark L. Thomas, celebrant. Interment will follow in Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
