Rose Marie DeGennaro, 88

Mrs. Rose Marie DeGennaro, 88, of Ellwood City passed away on Sunday, September 19, 2021 at the UPMC Jameson Hospital in New Castle.

Mrs. DeGennaro was born in Beaver Falls on July 2, 1933 to the late Carmello “Carl” and Lena (Pompanella) Rocco. She had attended the St. Mary’s Catholic School in Beaver Falls. Rose is a member of the Holy Redeemer Parish and the Holy Redeemer Christian Mothers. A home maker, Rose enjoyed cooking and baking.

She is survived by her daughters, Sue (Craig) Best of Ellwood City, Nita (Joe) Barnes of New Castle, and Matilda (Gary) Krenke of East Palestine, OH, sons, Steve R. DeGennaro, Frank DeGennaro, Dom A. DeGennaro of Ellwood City, Carmen R. DeGennaro of Delaware, and Anthony (Janie) DeGennaro of Beaver Falls, 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and her sister, Katie Gerard of Ellwood City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Carmen J. DeGennaro whom she married on October 17, 1952 and passed away on July 26, 2016, grandchildren, Tyler, Hillary, and Kayla DeGennaro, Stephanie Johnson, and Shari Lynn Best, sisters, Nancy McCann and Caroline Dillen, brothers, Frank and Victor Rocco, and nephew, Big Steve DeGennaro.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 26th, 2021 from 4-7 pm at the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home and Crematory Inc.  A mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, September 27th, 2021 at 10:00 am at the Holy Redeemer Church with Father Mark Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at the Holy Redeemer Cemetery.

Mrs. DeGennaro’s family would like to thank Rose’s caregiver, Peri Malcolm and the Vita Hospice personnel for the wonderful care that they gave her.

Memorial contributions in Mrs. DeGennaro’s name may be made to; Club Hope, or to the McGuire Memorial Home.
