Ellwood City will be one of over 100 virtual locations to take place in the largest virtual game of catch next Wednesday June 30th.
Jeff Potter of The Potter Baseball Tour, came up with this idea as a way to bring the community together have people of all ages participate in this once in a lifetime event. The Potter Baseball Tour is partnering with organizations and individuals all over the country for this event.
“It’s great that Ellwood is getting involved and are being brought together to reach a common goal,” said Potter.
Not only will this event be a fun and memorable way to gather the community together, but this event will help support CureSearch. CureSearch is a non-profit organization that does research on pediatric cancer. The money from the registration fees will all towards CureSearch to help them fund more research.
This event is open to anyone of any age and whether they play baseball or not. The event will take place at Sanders Memorial Field in Ewing Park and will begin at 7:00 p.m. It is asked that if you are participating that you bring a baseball and a glove and are checked in by 6:30 p.m.
There aren’t many rules for this event, but if you are participating, you must play for a minimum of ten minutes and have to stand at least eight feet apart from your partner. Participants can play catch for however long they and will receive a medallion for their participation. It costs $10.00 to participate if you thirteen and older and $5.00 if you are twelve and under.
