POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

THEFT:
New Castle Police are investigating theft incident on North Western Drive in Wayne Township. A 72-year-old Ellwood City man sent an unidentified individual money online over a period of 11-12 months. According to the report, the currency sent to the suspect via Bitcoin is valued at $300,000.00. Police are continuing to investigate.

The Beaver Patrol Unit responded to an incident in Darlington Boro. A woman, age 74 was deceived by a male phone caller and gave him her personal bank account information. $2,000.00 was stolen from the woman’s account. There are no witnesses, leads, or suspects in regards to this incident.

DUI:
New Castle police initiated a traffic stop in Lawrence County for a traffic violation. The driver showed of impairment and was taken into custody. The driver was suspected for driving under the influence of alcohol. Charges will be filed pending the blood results.

WARRANT MISDEMEANOR/FELONY:
According to a police report, and on May 23rd at approximately 1:35 a.m., the New Castle Police initiated a traffic stop on a blue 2007 Dodge Caliber driving on Woodside Avenue in the Ellwood City because the car had crossed over the double-solid yellow line into the opposite lane of traffic. Upon investigation, it was discovered that the passenger, Daniel Matthew Norton, had a warrant out for possession of drug paraphernalia. Additionally, the passenger in the rear, Reginald Dominick Brown, had a warrant out for unpaid child support. Both passengers were taken into custody and taken to the Lawrence County Jail where they were incarcerated.

BURGLARY:
The Pennsylvania State Police investigated a burglary that took place on May 25th just before midnight on Hogue Road in Slippery Rock Township. Upon further investigation, it was determined that there was unknown forced entry through the front door of the residence, ransacked the house, sprayed graffiti inside the garage and fled the scene in an unknown direction. HARASSMENT: 
According to a police report, and between May 25 at 10:00 p.m. and May 26 at 1:15 a.m., a 54-year-old female agreed to receive transportation from an unidentified male from Sharon Regional Hospital to New Castle, PA. While driving, a disagreement occurred and the male forcefully pushed the female out of his vehicle and left the area. The vehicle is a Mitsubishi make, the model is unknown, coupe body type, green colored. The man is described as white, non-Hispanic, possibly in his 40’s, black hair, black mustache, blue eyes, stocky build, with a visible gold tooth. It is suspected that male’s first name is Gary and that he resides in Mercer County, PA. Anyone with information regarding this case, please contact PSP – New Castle at 724-598-2211 and reference incident number PA21-703243. This is an ongoing investigation.
