Mrs. Edith (Rocco) Pacella, 95, of Ellwood City, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 18, 2021, at Jameson Health Center in New Castle where she had been admitted three days earlier.
Born in Ellwood City on Sept. 19, 1925, to the late Samuel and Elizabeth (Arena) Rocco, Edith was a lifelong member of Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Parish. She was married for 54 years to Arthur B. Pacella prior to his death on May 9th, 2001.
Edith loved to cook and bake and spent many years volunteering for various activities and fundraisers at Holy Redeemer Parish. She also volunteered to work with the Holy Redeemer Golden Agers for many years before finally attending the weekly gatherings as a member. In addition, she was a member of Holy Redeemer Christian Mothers and attended Saint Anthony Novenas at the church faithfully for many years.
She also baked for and helped at many of the activities and events held at the Ellwood City Area Public Library over the years.
Edith particularly loved to spend time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Rosalind Wallace of New Castle, John Pacella of New Castle and Veronica Pacella of Ellwood City; two grandsons, Jeremy Pacella of New Castle and Dan (Emily) Pacella of Middletown, NY; one great-granddaughter, Caroline Pacella of Middletown; three sisters, Rose Venditti of Beaver Falls, Martha Boschini of Ellwood City, and Elvira Masters of New Castle; one brother, Anthony (JoJo) Rocco of Ellwood City; two sisters-in-law, Dr. Emma Rocco of Beaver and Joann (Lefty) DeCarbo of Ellwood City; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Edith was also preceded in death by her brothers, Val Rocco, Nick Rocco and Carlo Rocco, and by her sisters, Theresa DeLoia and Genny Grant.
Due to Covid-19, a private visitation and blessing service will be held at the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., with Father Mark Thomas officiating. Burial will be at Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in Edith’s name to the Ellwood City Area Public Library.
