Margaret “Peggy” Nido Foley, 81, of Morningstar Drive, Ellwood City, passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2021, after an extended illness.
Peggy was born on July 18, 1939, in Ellwood City, to the late Angelo and Angelina Nido. Peggy was an active alumna of the Lincoln High School graduating class of 1956, worked at the Ellwood Knitting Mill, graduated from New Castle Beauty School and in a flash was off and operating her legacy Nido’s Beauty Shops. She was a fixture of Lawrence Avenue for almost 60 years. She also was quite the business woman branching out to two other salons in Zelienople and Cranberry Township. No matter which highway that led you to Ellwood City, you would be greeted with larger than life billboards, “Nido’s Beauty Shop”, reminding you that you should call and schedule a haircut.
Peggy enjoyed family gatherings and always ready to lend a helping hand. She was in constant motion never wanting to waste any time, but was always ready to listen with empathy. She always had the desire to be the fixer and save others. Her passing certainly leaves an empty void for all.
Peggy is preceded in death by her husband, James J. Foley; three sisters, Mary McElwain, Ruth Foley and Betty Zill; three brothers, Frank, Bill and Jay Nido. Survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Kim (Renee) Foley of Ellwood City, Jeff (Kathy) Foley of Butler; one daughter and son-in-law, Karen (Joe) Genova of Butler, six grandchildren, Ryan (Adrienne) Genova, Brandon (Jess), Jordan (Katie), Grant (Erin), Devin (Julie) and Taylor Foley. Six great-grandchildren; Evelyn, Trent, James, Natalee, Aida and Alma Foley.
Upon her request, there will be no visitation. Services and Interment will be private. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., 309 Spring Ave., Ellwood City.
