A ‘socially distancing’ Santa Claus will be making a special appearance in Ellport this weekend.
Longtime Santa for the Ellwood City area Mac McAnallen will be hosting an event at 509 Golf Avenue in Ellport. Santa will be hosting children on his deck, talking gifts and wishes for this Christmas.
“I enjoy the children’s expressions and in the feeling I get doing so,” said McAnallen.
McAnallen was the host Santa at Christmas in the Park last year and also at a party at Bodyshop Fitness. He has worked several other functions over the years including Christmas parties at hospitals and business-related events.
McAnallen has been doing Santa since his first daughter was born in 1978.
Children are able to visit, with social distancing in place, on Friday, December 18th from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, December 20th from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
McAnallen was born in Ellwood City, graduated Lincoln High School, and left in January 1965 for the service, returning from Vietnam after two tours in July 1968. He relocated to California and spent the next 45 years in the hotel/casino industry in California and Las Vegas. After decades on the west coast McAnallen returned and relocated to Ellport in July 2014.
