According to information made available from the Borough of Ellwood City this week, the Ellwood City and Ellport Trick or Treat times have changed.
The office of Mayor Court announced the time has been changed to 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m on Halloween, October 31, 2020 for both Ellwood City Borough and Ellport Borough.
“I am urging all motorists and pedestrians to use extreme caution!” says Mayor Court. “Please do your part to help make this a safe and fun evening here in Ellwood City. I want the community to enjoy the event and protect all the children – Extreme caution is strongly advised!”
Previously the borough trick or treat schedule was from 6-8 p.m.
“Citizens don’t want to miss treating the kids as some have plans for later, but moving it up an hour makes sense for various reasons,” said Mayor Court earlier this month regarding the time change. “We can still have trick or treat night and citizens can still have plans for later that evening. We are trying to accommodate all!”
Neighboring Franklin Township also has rescheduled their Trick or Treat time. Franklin Township announced October 1st that their times will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Halloween, October 31, 2020, matching those neighboring and other area trick or treat times.
Last week, the Ellwood City Area Chamber of Commerce announced the cancellation of the annual Ellwood City Halloween Parade this year.
The number of people testing positive for COVID-19 in Lawrence County has skyrocketed in the past week, following a troubling trend statewide.
As of Monday, 849 Lawrence County residents had tested positive for the novel coronavirus, 126 more than on Oct. 20. Considering only new cases, the county has a 7-day percent positivity of 22.6 percent as of Monday.
When considering all repeat testing and disregarding tests that were collected 14 days or more prior, the county had a positivity rate of 9% between Oct. 16 and 22, up from 6.4% the prior seven days.
But you really shouldn’t worry about that and just enjoy yourself!
