Fearscapes Haunted Attraction: An Immersive Escape

NOTE: This is part two of a series featuring Spooktacular Events in Lawrence County

Need a good scare?

You don’t have to go far. Fearscapes Haunted Attraction is right here in Ellwood City.

Not only are they hosting their revamped walk through attraction, but they have also added an escape room.

Escape room and attraction combined are a wicked mix science and the paranormal gone mad.

According to Fearscapes website, deep within the Fearscapes facility, A mysterious and toxic chemical used to contain entities of unknown origin has been released. Reports show it may have been caused by equipment malfunction.  Players must work together to gain access to the control room, determine the cause of the containment breach, and escape before critical failure. According to Fearscapes owner John Guerrini, whether you escape or not you are led to elevator that leads to the haunted attraction.

If you had a chance to check out the attraction last year in it’s first season, no worries about it being the same, Guerrini said because of Covid he had to find a way to design a layout and features where social distancing forced to could be achieved.

“We added a bunch of new props and upgraded lighting,” he said.

And as far as Covid-19 safety measures go, Guerrini said the Fearscapes Staff isn’t taking it lightly.

All Staff will be wearing face coverings at all times and will undergo temperature checks before they enter and as they leave the facility. Night-vision cameras have been installed to regulate the flow of guests and to ensure physical distancing. Cleaning staff will be on site to sterilize all touch point surfaces throughout the attraction and backstage areas.

Guerrini assures all attraction goers that all safety protocols meet or exceed health precaution policies as required by the state of Pennsylvania for business operations.

“We are taking it very serious” Guerrini said. “We work in healthcare and using same plan of actions as most healthcare systems.”

All All guests must wear face coverings per state, county, and CDC guidelines, maintain six-foot distance from other groups and staff while on the premises, and must follow all signs and instructions.

The 30-room escape maze opens tonight and will run through October.

The good news is that the Escape Room will be open year-round.

In addition to the haunted attraction and escape room there will be two performance groups: Stolen Stitches, a “macob” freakshow sideshow act and Steel City Clowns a traveling group. They will perform nightly.

“It’s a true theatrical show,” Guerrini said.

Guerrini recommends purchasing tickets online and early in the season. Because of limited space within time slots, tickets sales are limited.
