Local Given Proclamation For Heroic Actions

On Monday, July 20, 2020, Mayor Anthony J. Court presented a  proclamation to Evan Barton. Last week Barton performed a heroic deed,  by rescuing a women from a burning vehicle.

Evan Barton was traveling  into Ellwood City on Woodside Avenue when he observed a vehicle in front  of his vehicle. The vehicle was smoking and appeared to be on fire.

After repeated attempts, Evan was able to get the attention of the driver who eventually pulled off the side of the roadway with the vehicle on fire. He then ran to the driver inside the vehicle and observed the driver not attempting to get out of the vehicle. Evan then took action and lifted the driver out of the vehicle and to safety.

Mayor Court stated,”Barton’s quick and courageous actions prevented this  situation from becoming even more serious.”  Mayor Court emphasized how proud the Ellwood City community is of Evan on a “job well done”!

My husband and I were on scene too and Mr. Barton’s calm presence and immediate action to call for help and act absolutely saved all of us from witnessing a horrific tragedy. So glad the driver made it out without injuries.God was watching over her (plus lots of good neighbors) that day!
