Franklin Township will be having a “Too Toxic To Trash” Recycling Event on Saturday, August 1.
This is a way for residents to get rid of household hazardous and electronic waste in a safe and proper way. Registration is required however, so you will need to call 866-815-0016 or visit the ECSR website to be able to schedule your appointment.
The event will be from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturday August 1 at 897 State Route 288, Fombell, Pa. 15009.
Items that can be brought and disposed of consist of household chemicals. These chemicals include; paint, paint thinner, cleaning products, pesticides, car and household batteries, light bulbs, fluorescent tubes, pool chemicals, oil, anti-freeze, flammables, etc. Electronic/Freon waste like TVs, computers, towers, monitors, printers, cell phones, AC Units, dehumidifiers, mini fridges, video game consoles, radios, and anything else with a cord, screen, or circuit board can also be dropped off.
Rates for items are 60¢/lb. for CRT, Projection TVs and Monitors, 40¢/lb for all other devices, 65¢/lb for AC Units, $1.25/lb for Paint, $2.00/lb for all other household hazardous waste items, $1.50/lb fr Universal Waste (i.e bulbs and batteries). and $8/each for propane.
You are asked to not bring explosives, ammunition, radioactive materials, large appliances, pharmaceuticals, syringes, medical waste, fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, elemental mercury (and mercury containing devices), compressed gas, and tires.
