Mayor Anthony J. Court commemorates May 8 as V-E Day as the 75th anniversary of the end of the war in Europe as the Germans surrendered on May 8, 1945.
Samuel Teolis, Life Chaplain on the Lawrence County Chapter 112 of the Disabled Veterans gave tribute to the 126 brave men who lost their lives for our freedom. Samuel was in the Infantry as a private in the Third Army in Germany at the time in the battle of Central Europe.
Mayor Anthony J. Court and Former Mayor Samuel Teolis observed “Victory In Europe Day” on the 75th anniversary commemorating the end of the war.
Mayor Court, pictured below right, stated “Our veterans faced many challenges and did amazing and wonderful things and will always be considered hero’s in my eyes.
