Cambridge Falls, a personal care and memory care facility, located at 599 Norwood Drive in Wampum, the 26-acre facility is accepting resident applications.
Following an 18-month, $1 million renovation project, the team is ready to open the doors.
Rebekah Stratton, director of sales and marketing for Cambridge Retirement Living, said the anticipation of unveiling the new facility is overwhelming.
“We are so excited to open the doors to show what our facility has to offer,” Stratton said.
She added that the layout and design of the facility lends to the mission of Cambridge in that it offers person-focused care and promotes the idea of aging well, aging with dignity, and aging happily.
Stratton said one of the new features of the facility is a movie theatre. She said this amenity adds to the atmosphere of independence mixed with total care. The movie theatre is in addition to a fitness center and beauty salon—amenities that give residents a feeling of having all the same things they have always loved in the comfort of home.
“This is not just a place where residents stay,” Stratton said. “This is their home.”
Moving away from the traditional retirement living or “nursing home” style living, Cambridge Falls offers homey décor with adaptive, stylish furniture that accommodates residents.
“We want to be a leader in senior care,” Stratton said. “We are moving away from the clinical and sterile look.”
But looks aren’t everything when it comes to personal care. Stratton said the updated facility is just one of the perks offered by Cambridge Falls. She said there are two main types of care offered at the facility: personal care and memory care.
Personal care includes 24-hour support. Each resident is part of a neighborhood of ten or eleven residents. It is based on a household model where one caregiver is the cook, housekeeper and care aide. This person takes care of and interacts with the resident, almost becoming like family by providing a continuity of care. The neighborhood model allows residents to really get to know their neighbors, which creates a tight-knit community.
Stratton said Cambridge Falls will open with two neighborhoods and the plan to grow to six neighborhoods.
Cambridge Falls will also specialize in Memory Care. Memory Care includes 24/7 all inclusive senior care for those suffering from Alzheimer’s and dementia. The staff supporting these residents are specially trained and certified by the Alzheimer’s Association.
“It’s a structured kind of care that goes a little bit further than personal care,” Stratton said.
She added that the Memory Care neighborhoods have secured corridors and courtyards but that the residents will be able to enjoy the same options and opportunities as personal care residents.
