When the gifts are all unwrapped, and the leftovers have been in the fridge for a few days, most people begin to take down their festive decorations. For those with live trees in their homes, the end of the season means trying to figure out where to dispose of the Christmas tree.
Announced Friday, Borough residents can take their trees to Stiefel Park through January 31 for disposal. Residents are asked to dispose of their tree in the parking lot between the two lower fields from 7:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Residents who drop off trees are reminded that they must remove all decorations and stands from the trees prior to the drop-off. Please only drop off live trees, no artificial trees will be accepted.
Last year Brady’s Run Park held its own tree recycling event, mulching dropped off trees and layering into the county’s expansive compost site in Brighton Township. Additionally, approximately 3,500 trees were received and recycled in Allegheny County, with the resulting mulch used for various purposes throughout the park system’s 12,000 acres.
