Ellwood City School Board swore in newly elected directors and reorganized Thursday evening during its combined meeting.
Jean Biehls and Gary Rozanski were sworn in with current directors Leroy Cortez, Erica Gray, and Jennifer Tomon.
Renee Pitrelli was elected board president with the support of current board members Kathleen McCommons, Barbara Wilson along with newcomers Rozanski and Biehls. Cortez, Tomon, and Gray voted no. Rozanski was voted vice president with the support of all board members except for Tomon.
Two outgoing members thanked their fellow board members, administrators, and the community.
Michael Neupauer spoke about the great administration at Ellwood City Area School District. He also recognized the people he has served with during his 12 years on the board. He spoke specifically to his fellow board member and friend Cortez.
“I am proud to call you my friend,” he said.
Danielle Woodhead said it has been an honor to serve for four years on the board. She said she is a fourth generation Wolverine.
“I bleed blue and white,” she said.
Both Neupauer and Woodhead were presented with a token of appreciation from the district by Superintendent Joseph Mancini.
Richard Zarone, business manager, was also recognized for his years of service with the district. Zarone will retire this month. Jason Hardie was welcomed as his replacement.
