It has been a special two days for the Riverside Golf team.
First, on Tuesday both Justin Hand and Skyler Fox individually qualified for the WPIAL Individual Finals.
And more recently, on Wednesday at the Midwestern Athletic Conference (MAC) boys golf championship, Fox took home the Championship after carding a 4-under round of 68 at the aptly named Fox Run Golf Course in Beaver Falls.
Fox’s Riverside teammate Justin Hand, the defending champion, finished tied for 4th Place with a round of 73.
Riverside finished in 4th place in the team scoring.
It was the first MAC Championship for Fox who now sets his ambitions on WPIAL championships.
Fox has won three WPIAL Class 2A championships in a row, and in doing so, became the first boys’ golfer since Fox Chapel’s Frank Fuhrer III (1974-76) and third in WPIAL history to take three consecutive titles.
No WPIAL boy has ever won the title four straight years.
The WPIAL Individual Finals will be played September 26 at Allegheny Country Club.
