Howard W. “Gibby” Gibbs, 83

Mr. Howard W. “Gibby” Gibbs, 83, of North Sewickley Twp. went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, August 26, 2019 peacefully in his home.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and family man, Howard was born on July 4, 1936 in Pittsburgh to the late Howard S. and Anne (Glosser) Gibbs. He had graduated from the Bellevue High School with the class of 1954. Howard then worked for Columbia Gas for 45 years mainly as an inspector. He had volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, and enjoyed riding his motorcycle on charity runs. An outdoorsman, he had built his family camp in Kennerdell, and liked boating, golfing, hunting, gardening, bowling, woodworking, fishing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, going to flea markets, and collecting miscellaneous items. He is also a past member of the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marge (Weidle) Gibbs whom he married on August 4, 1956, his daughters, Cynthia Powers of Hopewell Twp., Deborah (Woodrow) Hardy of Wayne Twp., Diane Bradshaw of New Castle, and Patricia Gibbs of North Sewickley Twp., his grandchildren, Derrick (Amy) Powers, Sara (John) Marshall, Lindsay Powers, Chrystal (Al) Sollazzo, Ryan Hardy, Heather, (Brad) Shaffer, Jeremy Fox, Johnathan Fox, Jessica (Danny) Jones, Jennifer Bradshaw, and Jamie Bradshaw, his eighteen great-grandchildren, and his brothers, Kenneth (Maryann) Gibbs and Joseph (Judy) Gibbs both of Florida.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home and Crematory Inc. A private family interment will take place on Saturday at the Holy Redeemer Cemetery.

A special thank you is extended by the family to the AHN (Allegheny Health Network) Hospice, especially Amber, Kim, and Jocelyn.
Memorial contributions in Mr. Gibbs name may be made to the St. Jude’s Research Hospital.
