Hospital to Host Dunkin’ Truck for National Emergency Medical Services Recognition Week

In honor of National Emergency Medical Services Recognition Week and all the local workers, the Ellwood City Medical Center will be hosting the Dunkin’ Donuts catering truck Friday morning from 8 to 11 a.m.

“We at Ellwood City Medical Center are recognizing the dedication and commitment of our local Emergency Responders and staff to helping those in their most desperate time of need by providing a small token of our appreciation,” said Victoria Gatto, marketing manager at the medical center.

EMS Teams, Local Police Officers, Local Firefighters, and the Emergency Department team will get a Free Dunkin’ Donuts coffee and a doughnut. All it takes is a badge. All other medical center employees will receive a 25 percent discount on purchases when presenting a badge. The community is welcome to participate as well.

According to the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) website, May 19-25, 2019, is the 45th annual National EMS Week. In 1974, President Gerald Ford authorized EMS Week to celebrate EMS practitioners and the important work they do in our nation’s communities. EMS Week brings together local communities and medical personnel to honor the dedication of those who provide the day-to-day lifesaving services of medicine’s “front line.”
This year, five days of EMS Week have a theme that represents the diverse nature of EMS.

  • Monday – EMS Education Day
  • Tuesday – Safety Tuesday
  • Wednesday – EMS for Children Day
  • Thursday – Stop the Bleed Day
  • Friday – EMS Recognition Day
