The inside-outside duo of seniors Natalia Greco and Isabella Roth combined for 29 points to lead the Lady Wolverines to 51-39 senior night victory over Mohawk Monday night.
Roth collected four 3-pointers en route to her team high of 17 points while Greco battled inside earning 16 free throw attempts (10 made FT) on her way to 12 points. The duo scored eight of the team’s 12 points in the final frame help close out the victory which marked a third consecutive victory for Ellwood City.
Freshman guard Kyla Servick posted 9 points while sophomores Maria Ioanilli and Olivia Battaglia (one 3FG) each finished with five points. Roth and Battaglia have combined to connect on 16 3-pointers during the team’s three game winning streak.
The Wolverines led wire to wire stretching out a 7 point halftime lead to the double digit margin of victory. Defensively, Ellwood City held Mohawk to just eight field goals total and held Warrior guard Nadia Lape to a single field goal (8 points) after her 24 point outburst in their last meeting.
Mohawk’s Paige Julian scored a game-high 20 points in defeat.
Ellwood City (12-9 overall, 5-8 Section 3A-1) travels crosstown to Riverside on Thursday for their rivalry rematch with the Lady Panthers.
