Barensfeld Will Be Guest Speaker At Historical Society.

The regular monthly meeting of the Ellwood City Area Historical Society will be held Monday, February 11 at 7:00 pm. Acknowledging one of Ellwood City’s industries that have been in existence for over 100 years, David Barensfeld will be the guest speaker.

In August of 1910, two brothers, David and Jonathan Evans opened the doors of a steel manufacturing company in Ellwood City, PA, the Ellwood City Forge.

Its name is as simple and straight forward as their approach to business:  Maximizing their profits to reinvest in their business, their operations, and their people, to ensure they have the best tools, the best equipment, and the best materials and metals to achieve their goal.

It’s a leadership that has truly reflected on family business, starting with the Evans Brothers, and continuing through five generations to present day with Chairman David Barensfeld, and one that remains on the forefront of entrepreneurship and business innovation.

Ellwood Group Chairman, David Barensfeld

David is a lifelong resident of Ellwood City since birth. Following high school, David earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania, a Juris Doctor degree from Harvard Law School, and a Master of Business Administration degree from Carnegie-Mellon.

He started his career at the Ellwood City Forge (now the Ellwood Group, Inc.) in 1979, and became the President and CEO of the Ellwood Group, which he held from 1983 until his retirement this year in January.

He has lived in Marion Township since 1957. David and his wife Wendy were married in 1974. They have three adult daughters and three grandchildren. One lovable Labrador retriever completes their family.

Refreshments will be prepared and served by Mary May. The public is invited to attend.
