Winter Storm Harper Approaching: Borough Parking Reminder

The Borough of Ellwood City has issued a press release this afternoon in anticipation of this weekend’s snowy winter weather in the forecast.  Winter Storm Harper is approaching Western Pennsylvania and is anticipating to dump 8″-12″ of snow in local areas.

According to the release, and due to the upcoming inclement weather, the Borough would like to remind residents to park in their driveway whenever possible so that streets can be plowed and salted. The plows are 10′ wide.

If the road is a narrow road and you have no driveway, please offset your parking so that the borough can effectively plow/salt the road.

Please DO NOT shovel snow into streets, and ALWAYS shovel snow to the left of the driveway (looking at the house) this will limit the amount of snow pushed across your driveway from the plow trucks.

Residents should keep fire hydrants clear of snow in the event an emergency arises. Residents and business owners should also keep their sidewalks clear of snow and ice.

Although some fear for higher snow totals, according to Weather.com, Pittsburgh has only seen 13 snow events with at least 12 inches of snow over two days dating to 1948, the last occurring on Feb. 5-6, 2010.  Could this year make the list?
