George J. “Jim” Haberman, 62

Mr. George J. “Jim” Haberman, 62, of Fombell passed away on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at his residence with his loving family at his bedside.

Mr. Haberman was born on May 13, 1956 in Aspinwall, Pa to the late George “Junie” and Rose Marie (Kaminski) Haberman. He had graduated from the Fox Chapel High School with the class of 1972, and later from the University of Pittsburgh where he earned a Master Degree in Political Science and English. For many years, Jim worked as an investment banker and Senior Vice President for Mellon Bank in Pittsburgh. He served as the Aspinwall Borough President for 18 years. Jim is a member of the Holy Redeemer Parish and the Holy Name Society. He also is a member of the Knights of Columbus and held the position of Treasurer. Jim was the manager of the German Group for the annual Pittsburgh Folk Festival and a volunteer for the Holy Redeemer Annual Bazaar. He enjoyed cooking, reading, gardening, and was a very giving and compassionate person. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Grace (Twarowski) Haberman whom he married on August 23, 1980, his daughter, Krystyna Haberman (Jimmy Rose) of Pittsburgh, his son, Jamie Haberman (Kim Toennies) of New York, NY, his sister, Heidi (Christian) Santana of Heboron, KY, his brothers, Michael (Cathie) Haberman of Allison Park, Steven (Terry) Haberman of Harmony, and David (Rebecca Rae) Haberman of Sewickley, his sister-in-law, Diane (Steve) Nowocien of Bellvue, and his brother-in-law, Jann (Demond) Twarowski of Virginia. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Stephanie (Brian ) Holt, Shannon Haberman, Michael Haberman, Alexandra Nunoz, Adderley Nunoz, Arianna Nunoz, Isabella Authier, Taylor Sendek, Kendal Sendek, Parker Sendek, Chandler Sendek, Danielle Smith, Maria Smith, Zachary Smith, Ezra Smith, Evan Smith, Steve Nowocien, Bunny Meeder, and Michael Meeder.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home Inc and Cremation Services. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday at 10:00 am at the Holy Redeemer Church with Father Mark Thomas officiating. Entombment will follow at the St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Pittsburgh. Those attending the funeral mass are asked to meet at the funeral home on Saturday by 9:20 am.
