LED Billboard Being Constructed In Franklin Township

What is going on in Franklin Township? At the corner of Route-288 and Mercer Road, large steel poles are being erected with all ‘signs’ indicating a large, two-sided LED Billboard will occupy the corner according to information made available to EllwoodCity.org

According to Franklin Township, America First Enterprises LLP has purchased the property located at 1766 Mercer Road in the Commercial Zoning District and, after receiving PENNDOT approval, plans to erect a ’10’x30′ Vee LED 2 Face Billboard Unit’. According to the PENNDOT permit, the land is Zoned Commercial – Primary Highway.

At the conclusion of the construction, PENNDOT and its Highway Beautification Management System (HBMS) will be summoned to inspect the constructed billboard sign.

Oliver Excavation, of Vandergrift, is the general contractor with the estimated cost of the project pegged at $125,000.00.

Butler-based outdoor billboard advertising company, Oliver Outdoor, will facilitate the billboard messages and advertisers on the new LED billboard. Oliver Outdoor works with some of the largest national and regional advertising agencies, but according to their website, take great satisfaction in helping small, locally owned businesses find a voice.

  1. Saying the size of the billboard is excessive for it’s location is an understatement. Nothing but an eyesore for this small rural town. What’s next?

I think it’s a big mistake we can find out what’s going on other ways. That area is small & rural
We liked it the way it was….
    Beautiful landscape…rolling hills
The cows walking around and the big barn nearby. That big ugly billboard does not go here!!

That’s a nice distraction at THAT intersection.

  4. Prompt what businesses? This town rolls up the sidewalks at 5 pm. Sounds like a big waste of money.

  5. It is already a dangerous intersection. Is someone’s life worth the cost of another distracting billboard.
