Ellwood City Council Agenda Meeting, New Electric Rate For Vote

Ellwood City Council held their regular monthly agenda meeting on December 10. All council members were present at the meeting.

The agenda meeting was brief and allowed for attendees to get a rundown on what will be voted on in next weeks council meeting.

Ellwood City Council will vote on a new electric rate for the annual year of 2019, next week.  The new rate introduce for vote will be listed at a PPA stabilized rate .02191/kwh for 2019 usage

Previously the council was changing rates every six months, which caused members of the community to question why rate changes were causing higher billing averages.

As recent as August, council members met more than half of the seven suggestions they received from Rep. Aaron Bernstine and state Sen. Elder Vogel Jr. about improving the Ellwood City Electric Department [READ MORE]

Some members of the community like Liz Prence, decided to take action and research how the rate changes and the amount of electricity being utilized were causing higher billing averages.

Below are the scheduled topics of discussion and voting for Ellwood City’s Council meeting on Monday, December 17:

FINANCE:
-Resolution – Adopt 2019 budget
-Adopt – Tax Rate Ordinance – 8.75 mills

PUBLIC WORKS/UTILITIES:
-Resolution – PMEA bylaw amendments, strategic plan & dues structure
-Resolution – PPA stabilized rate .02191/kwh for 2019 usage
-Advertise Ordinance – amending the industrial pretreatment Ordinance, specifically allowable limits for pollutants

ADMINISTRATION/PERSONNEL:
-Appointments – vacancies on Boards/Commissions
-Adopt Ordinance – Code Book Updates
-Resolution – Police Pension Contribution – 3.5% for 2019
-Pension Benefit (DROP) – Lt. Dave Kingston, retroactive to 11/1/17
-Pension Benefit (DROP) – Ptl. Wayne Parsons, retroactive to 2/1/18
-Pension Benefit (DROP) – Ptl. Richard List, retroactive to 5/1/18
