Corona D’Italia Lodge #807 held their Columbus Day Dinner on Tuesday, October 9 at 5:00 p.m. The dinner was held at the Wolverine Restaurant.
Orator, Valerie Valentino, who was serving as acting President and Chairman for this event, greeted guests on arrival. Historian, Mary Jane Folino, assisted by presenting favors to all in attendance.
Registration was conducted by Patty Kuhn and prize tickets were distributed by Sentinel and acting Secretary, Lois DiFrischia along with member Maura Greco.
Valentino recognized Trustee and acting Treasurer, Patty Regna, for the invocation. She then gave tribute to Columbus and his achievements and proceeded to recognize the members and all past members. They were recognized on behave of all their hard work and dedication that has maintained the Lodge, which is now in the 101th year since the founding.
A moment of silence was observed as an offering of prayers for all members, all Military personal, and the recently deceased Vice-President, Ann Butchelli.
Dinner followed, served by the Wolverine staff, with soup and the choice of either a stuffed pork chop dinner or a stuffed chicken breast dinner.
Valentino extended Columbus Day remarks, along with her appreciation to all of her committee members.
In recognition to President Clemmy Sirimarco and expressing appreciation to her service to the Lodge, Valentino presented her with a gift and decorated cake from all the officers and lodge members. Sirimarco responded with her appreciation for the honor and pledged her support and requested that the officers an members continue to support the Lodge and its changes.
Dessert, which was the sharing of the cake, was served by DiFrischia, Pudue La Cava, Jackie Perno, Joan McGrady, and Lee Ann Houk.
Emcee, Mary Quintanilla voiced a history of Columbus that spanned from his early childhood and through his life and adventures. She noted his many interests as well as his discoveries.
A social followed with a 50-50 draw which was won by Esther Santilo. Bingo game winners were Louise Vitullo, Valentino, Regna, Folino, and Sirmiraro. Pictures were then taken by DiFrischia and Quintanilla.
Valentino noted that the next meetings will be held on Wednesday, November 12 at 5:00 p.m. at Pizza Joe’s. Food will be self choice and self pay.
The Corona D’Italia Lodge acknowledges the scholarship memorials in honor of Ann Butchelli, which were received by Ann, Rose, Amanda Parisi, and Mart Quintanilla.
