Angeline M. “Angie” Varrato, 99

Mrs. Angeline M. “Angie” Varrato, 99, of Ellport passed away on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at the Ellwood City Medical Center.

Mrs. Varrato was born on December 25, 1918 in Altoona, Pa to the late Antonio D. and Marie (Lombardi) Carmosino.

She had graduated from the Altoona High School in 1938 and then from Mary Hammond’s Beauty School in Altoona.

Angie worked as a self employed beautician for 10 years in Altoona before moving to Ellwood City in 1950.

In 1957 she opened Angeline’s Beauty Shop in Ellwood City. After 35 years of being in business Angie retired but stayed active with her many hobbies.

She enjoyed baking and cooking for others, going to the Exercise for You classes at the Ellwood Area Family Center, and Line Dancing. She is a member of the Holy Redeemer Parish and the Holy Redeemer Christian Mothers.

Angie also belonged to the Ladies of Charity, Rosary Makers, People Concerned With the Unborn Child in New Castle, Silver Sneakers, Challenges, and the Ellwood City Art Club.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Anne (Ron) Hassen of Ellwood City, her sons, Louis N. (Jean Bucci) Varrato of Lima, OH, and John J. Varrato of Ellport, her eight grandchildren, and her twelve great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Louis N. Varrato, Sr. whom she married on September 1, 1947 and passed away on November 7, 1988, her four sisters, and her five brothers.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4-8 pm at the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home, Inc. and Cremation Services.

A mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday at 10:00 am at the Holy Redeemer Church with Father Mark Thomas officiating.

Interment will be at the Holy Redeemer Cemetery. Members of the Holy Redeemer Christian Mothers are asked to meet at the church on Friday by 9:50 am to form an honor guard.

Those attending the funeral mass are asked to meet at the funeral home on Friday by 9:20 am.

Memorial contributions in Mrs. Varrato’s name may be made to the Holy Redeemer Angel Fund or to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
