Stiefel Park Roller Hockey concluded their 2018 summer session Wednesday evening with three teams declaring victory in their respective divisions.
Due to the number of teams this season, the league was able to create three divisions based on experience and competitiveness. The A league housed four teams of experienced players both young and old. Age did not deter the high caliber game play during the season and playoffs this season. At the end of Wednesday evening, Your Goose is Cooked, the previously undefeated champs were dethroned in a best-of-3 series by new comers ‘Big Rigs’. The Big Rigs captained by Matty Vrankovich of Ellwood City bested the Goose in a two-game doubleheader to claim the A League Championship.
For the B Division composed of six teams, Home Improvement Contracting, captained by Ben Krummert of Ellwood City beat Craig’s Hardware of New Brighton in a best of 3 series 2-0. Krummert led his team to victory from the sidelines this season after an injury on the ice.
A Special thanks to: Home Improvement Contracting, Craig’s Hardware, Jimmy K’s and Turn4Toilets for sponsoring teams in the B league this season.
The C division a first this year for Stiefel Hockey was composed 4 teams made of both new and experienced players completed in some of the most entertaining and enjoyable games of the season. The Alchemists lead by Antonio Huber, a rookie goaltender and youngest participant in the league at age 12 claimed victory over the Slashers in the final game of the season Wednesday night to close out the summer session.
