Ellwood City Area Public Library Activities for Week of June 25, 2018

Activities taking place at the Ellwood City Area Public Library include the following:

Monday, June 25, at 10:00 a.m. — “Coloring for Adults,” a weekly program that is free and open to the public. This program is usually held on Wednesdays, but will meet on Monday mornings instead during the summer months. “Coloring for Adults” is a program designed to help reduce the stresses of everyday life. Everyone is welcome, so call the library at 724-758-6458 for more information.

Tuesday, June 26, at 10:00 a.m. — “Jump Start to Kindergarten,” a program designed for children entering kindergarten in the fall. The program focuses on reviewing – in a fun way – what children need to know to begin school. Registration is required, so call the library for more information.

Tuesday, June 26, at 6:30 p.m. — “Family Laptime,” designed for babies, toddlers and preschoolers. This interactive program, which runs through July 3, features stories, songs, finger plays, games and more. Registration is requested, so call the library at for more information.

Wednesday, June 27, at 10:00 and 11:00 a.m. — “Summer Quest: Libraries Rock,” a weekly summer program for kindergarten and 1st graders (who meet at 10:00 a.m.) and 2nd and 3rd graders (who meet at 11:00 a.m.). These programs feature games, stories, activities and one silly science experiment each week. Registration is required, so call the library for more information.

Wednesday, June 27, at 1:00 p.m. — “Building Buddies,” a new program of fun and learning for toddlers and preschoolers. This interactive program allows kids to explore building and socialization skills. No registration is required, so call the library for more information.

Wednesday, June 27, at 6:00 p.m. — “Movie Night for Adults,” featuring new-to-DVD films and refreshments. These monthly events are free and open to all area adults. Call the library for more information or to discover the title of the film to be shown. The new schedule for the remainder of 2018 is now available.

Thursday, June 28, at 10:00 a.m. — “Puppet Theater Workshop,” designed for students in 4th grade and up. The kids create plays and then meet throughout the summer to rehearse the plays using marionettes and puppets. Then, in late July, those participating present their plays to family, friends and other Summer Reading Program-goers. Call the library for more information.

Thursday, June 28, at 12:00 Noon – “Bookworms,” a book discussion group for students in 4th and 5th grades. The group meets monthly during the summer for book discussion, pizza and activities. Call the library for more information.

Thursday, June 28, at 6:00 p.m. — Adult Knitting Group which meets weekly to work on individual projects. New members are welcome, so call the library for more information.

The library is now accepting book donations for the Annual Book Sale which is scheduled for October 1-6. Books of all types in good condition may be dropped off at the library during regular business hours. The library will NOT accept textbooks of any type, no magazines, no Readers’ Digest Condensed Books, no encyclopedias and no VHS tapes. Call the library for more information.
