Cynthia L. “Cindy” Pertile, 68 of Ellwood City is now singing with the angels after passing away on Friday, May 25, 2018. A 1967 graduate of Lincoln High School, Cindy went on to earn her Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from Geneva College and her Master’s degree in Music Education from Duquesne University. For 33 years Cindy blessed the Ellwood City community by sharing her joy of teaching children through music. As choir director at Lincoln High School, she took many choirs to Florida, New York City, Washington D.C. and Tennessee to perform and hosted several Pennsylvania Music Educators Association District and Region chorus festivals. In addition, Cindy also formerly directed choirs at Bell Memorial Presbyterian Church, Slippery Rock Presbyterian Church and Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church. One of her proudest achievements was her active involvement in directing and producing over 35 high school musical productions.
Cindy was preceded in death by her mother, Frances S. Tucci Pertile, her father, Louis A. Pertile and her brother, Anthony D. Pertile. She is survived by 3 nephews, David A. Pertile and his girlfriend, Amber Stine of Altoona, Matthew L. Pertile and wife Cara of Ellwood City and Nicolas Pertile and his wife Sierra of Conway, her sister-in-law, Nancy Pertile of Conway. Cindy also dearly loved her great niece and nephew, Max and Josephine Pertile.
Cindy was greatly loved and taken care of by her best friends: Felecia Greco, Kathy Pletz and Laura Adams and will be joining her loving housemates and friends, Mary DeCaro and Mary Beth Dunning in glory. Cindy’s family would also like to thank Cheryl Mittler and Theresa Mihalko for the loving care and friendship they provided to Cindy during the last season of her life.
Friends may call at the Joseph A. Tomon, Jr. Funeral Home and Crematory, 97 Grim Avenue, Ellport on Monday, May 28, 2018 from 5 PM to 8 PM.
A Memorial Mass will be offer at Holy Redeemer Church, 4th Street at Park Avenue, Ellwood City on Tuesday at 11:30 AM with Fr. David Romblod.
