Judith “Judy” E. Zimmerman, 85, formerly of North Sewickley Township, passed away on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at UPMC Passavant.
Born in Ft. Wayne, Indiana on September 27, 1932, Judy was the daughter of the late Raymond and Edna Gaylord Pitzer. Judy married Theodore “Ted” Zimmerman on February 21, 1953 and he preceded her in death on January 24, 2016. Judy retired from the Ellwood City Area School District, where she taught elementary school for over 25 years. The book keeper for her husband’s business, Judy served as a Cub Scout Den Mother, she was a member of the ABWA, and enjoyed cross-stitch.
Judy is survived by her four sons, Greg (Hazel) Zimmerman of New Brighton, Rev. Raymond (Melinda) Zimmerman of New Castle, Karl (Carla) Zimmerman of Fombell, Todd (Marianne) Zimmerman of Wampum, a daughter-in-law, Tonda Zimmerman of Keller, Virginia, twelve grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Judy is preceded in death by her son, Rowland Zimmerman, and a sister, Ann Nason.
Friends will be received on Friday, March 30th from 2 to 4 PM and from 6 PM until the time of the funeral service at 8 PM with Pastor Sean Brubaker from Calvin Presbyterian Church, at the Joseph A. Tomon, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 97 Grim Avenue, Ellport.
Interment will take place in North Sewickley Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made in Judy’s name to the charity of the donor’s choice.
