Mrs. Anna Hazen, 93, formerly of Franklin Twp., passed away on Monday, March 19, 2018 at the VNA Hospice in Butler.
Mrs. Hazen was born on February 24, 1925 in Ellwood City to the late Dumitru “Daniel” and Aurelia Ungham Fenechi, Sr.. Anna had graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1943 and from Lawrence County Vo-Tech where she studied nursing. She had worked at Mine Safety Appliance, the Ellwood City Knitting Mill, Jameson Hospital, and the Ellwood City Hospital for 13 years in the Skilled Nursing Unit as a nurses aide. Mrs. Hazen is a member of the First Christian Church, the 3 C’s Club and the Speeders Club at the church. She also enjoyed going to Silvers Sneakers, bowling, babysitting, playing bingo, traveling, and her Bible Study group at Schill Manor.
Mrs. Hazen is survived by her daughter, Georgia (Robert) Servick of Wayne Twp., her son, Dennis (Mary) Herko of Kentucky, her step-daughter, Patricia (Conrad) Clacomb of Butler, her step-sons, Russell E. (Karen) Hazen of Beaver Falls, Donald L. Hazen of Florida, and Gary Hazen also of Florida, and her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Martha Henry of New Castle.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, George J. Herko, Jr. whom she married on November 26, 1943 and passed away on December 5, 1981, her second husband, Russell E. Hazen, Sr. whom she married on April 7, 1984 and passed away on August 16, 2002, her sisters, Valeria Neal, Mary Popoff, Jennie Grala, and Elaine Yarzebinski, and her brothers, Daniel Fenechi, Jr., Earl Fenechi, and George Fenechi.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 10:00 am until the time of the service at 11:00 am in the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home, Inc. and Cremation Services with Rev. Thomas O’Brien officiating. Interment will be at the Locust Grove Cemetery.
