Roger Johnston, 83, of Morningstar Dr., Ellwood City passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Hospice Beaver following a brief illness.
Born January 18, 1935 in Wampum, PA, he was the son of the late Marcus and Dorothy Johnston. He was married on April 12, 1958 to Virginia Ursu Johnston. She survives.
Roger was a graduate of Wampum High School. Following graduation he was a member of the U.S. Army from 1957-1959. He retired as a craneman at the Babcock & Wilcox Company, Koppel Plant. Roger’s most precious time was spent with his family.
Survivors include two daughters, Jacquelin Johnston and Kandy (Joe) Shuttleworth both of Ellwood City.; Three grandchildren, Jennifer (Joshua) DeStefano, Michael and Joseph Shuttleworth; Five great grandchildren, Alivea, Deegan, Breccan, Eric, and Joey;
He was preceded in death by a son Thomas Roger Johnston in infancy.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday March 17, from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home, Ellwood City. Following visiting hours, Military Services will be conducted by the Veterans Honor Gaurd.
Private Funeral Services will be held at the St. Elias the Prophet Orthodox Church on Saturday, March 17, at 2:00 pm with Fr. John Schmidt officiating.
Interment will follow in the Castleview Memorial Park in New Castle, PA.
