Mrs. Catherine “Kay” Migut, 97, of Ellport passed away on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at the Northview Estates.
Mrs. Migut was born on July 21, 1920 in Chewton to the late John and Mary (Brinsko) Lapatka. She was a 1938 graduate of the Wampum High School where she had played basketball. She is also a member of the Holy Redeemer Parish and the Christian Mothers of the Holy Redeemer Parish. Kay’s favorite activities where serving on the nutroll and pierogis committees for the St. Agatha and Holy Redeemer Church.
Kay is survived by her daughters, Shirley Perry and Mary Kaye (Jim) Alfera both of Ellwood City, her grandchildren, Michael N. Perry (Jen Corio), Valerie O’Donnell, and Brian Alfera, her great grandchildren, Michael A. Perry, Ryan Perry, Megan O’Donnell, and Katie Alfera.
She is the last of 16 siblings, brothers, George, Joseph, John, Andrew, Steve, Michael, Frank, Johnny, Pete, and Paul Lapatka, and sisters, Mary Aiello, Anna Concilla, Irene Demarc, Josephine Teck, and Pauline Lapatka.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, her husband, George Migut on September 20, 1996, her daughters, Diana Louise Migut and Sheila Marie Migut both in infancy, her son-in-law, Michael R. Perry, and grandson, Ron O’Donnell, Jr.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 3-7 pm in the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home, Inc. and Cremation Services. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday at 10:00 am at the Holy Redeemer Church with Father Mark Thomas officiating. Members of the Holy Redeemer Christian Mothers are asked to meet at the church on Monday by 9:50 am to form an honor guard. Interment will follow at the Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
Mrs. Migut’s family would like to express sincere gratitude to all of the staff at Northview Estates and the Kindred Hospice for the kind care that was given to Kay.
Memorial contributions in Kay’s name may be made to the Holy Redeemer Angel Fund.
