About the fundraising effort:
All proceeds benefit the Super Soren Fund for Soren Flook, a 501c3, non-profit organization organized to provide for the needs of 5-year old Soren. Soren had a drowning accident on July 1, 2014, and has anoxic brain damage from being without oxygen for an extended period of time. This has left Soren unable to walk, talk or swallow. He has impaired motor skills. Although he receives physical, occupational and speech therapy, and has improved from when the accident first happened, he has many needs. Brain injury causes muscle spasticity, so it is necessary for Soren to have chiropractic care and massage to keep him from having too much pain. Health insurance does not cover either of these practices. Also, insurance dictates how much of any therapy he can have, so in order to have more, the family has to pay out of pocket. The family wants to try specialized hyperbaric therapy, as it is said to have a profound effect on dormant brain cells, lessen muscle spasticity, stop seizures, and many other possible types of relief for Soren. These treatments are extremely expensive. The specialist the family has talked with is in New Orleans, Louisiana. The treatments would be for eight weeks and would cost nearly $10,000. Health insurance does not pay for these treatments. The family also has to pay for any special equipment, gas to and from appointments, which are plentiful, and they are in dire need of a wheelchair van. The fund has been raising money toward a van, but is still far from being able to afford a new or quality-used one. This is becoming more and more of an issue as Soren is getting big, and very difficult to carry and to lift in and out of a car seat in the family sedan. His 80-pound custom wheelchair then needs to be taken apart and loaded into the trunk, so that he can be wheeled around and not have to be carried. At some point, this will be dangerous for him and for whomever is trying to carry him. The needs are many, and expensive, and will continue indefinitely.

We ask for the community to participate in our efforts to help this little Beaver County boy. Son of Paige Nussbaum and Mike Flook.
