Activities taking place at the Ellwood City Area Public Library include the following:
Monday, September 18, at 1:30 p.m. – Afternoon Book Discussion Group for Adults. The group will discuss the book, “LaRose,” by Louise Erdrich. Call the library at 724-758-6458 for more information.
Wednesday, September 20, at 10:00 a.m. — “Coloring for Adults,” a weekly program that is free and open to the public. “Coloring for Adults” is a program designed to help reduce the stresses of everyday life. Everyone is welcome, so call the library for more information.
Wednesday, September 20, at 3:00 p.m. – Creative Writing Workshop for students in 7th grade and up. The group meets twice each month to share their work and discuss writing tips and techniques. Call the library for more information.
Wednesday, September 20, at 6:00 p.m. – “Movie Night for Adults,” featuring a new-to-DVD film and refreshments. These monthly “movie nights” are open to all area adults at no charge. Call the library for more information or to discover the title of the film to be shown.
Thursday, September 21, at 3:00 p.m. – “Food 4 Thought,” a book discussion group for students in 9th grade and up. The group meets each month year-around for book discussion and pizza. Call the library for more information.
Thursday, September 21, at 6:00 p.m. – Adult Knitting Group. Members meet once a week at the library and work on individual projects. New members are welcome, so call the library for more information.
The library will host an informational program presented by Fair Districts PA on the topic of governmental redistricting and gerrymandering in the state of Pennsylvania. The program is set for 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 26. No registration is required. Call the library for more information.
The 3rd Annual “Ellwood City Golf Ball Roll Open” will be held on Saturday, September 30, as part of the community’s “Fall Fest” celebration. Tickets for the golf ball roll are available at the library and all proceeds benefit library programs. The winner will receive a $1,000 prize. Call the library for more information.
The library’s annual Book Sale will be held October 2-7 and book donations are now being accepted. Books of all types that are in good, saleable condition are welcomed. Also accepted will be DVDs and CDs, both audio books and music. The library will NOT ACCEPT Readers’ Digest Condensed books, no encyclopedia sets, no textbooks, no magazines or VHS tapes. Donations may be dropped off at the library during normal business hours. Call for more information.
The library will be participating in this year’s annual “Oktoberfest” celebration in Ewing Park sponsored by the Ellwood City Wolves, Rotary and Lions clubs. The library will have a bake booth at the event. Tickets for the “Oktoberfest” are available at the library as well as at other locations. Call for more information.
