John M. Tomon, 82 of Dutch Ridge Rd., Wayne Twp. passed away from Alzheimer’s Disease on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at Golden Hills Nursing & Rehab Home.
Born in Chewton, PA on September 30, 1934 John was the son of the late John and Angela Gorzkowski Tomon. John married the former Priscilla Snezic on October 10, 1959. He retired from both the B & W and Ellwood Quality Steel where he worked as an electrician. A graduate of Wampum High School, John was an Army veteran serving from 1954 through 1957. An avid hunter, John was a member of the NRA. He was also a member of Mary Mother of Hope Parish.
John is survived by his wife Priscilla and his five children, John and Tracy Tomon of Ellwood City, Cynthia and Mark Huff of New Castle, David Tomon of Ellwood City, Robert and Shannon Tomon of Greenbriar, TN and Larry and Nicole Cohen Tomon of Bowdoinham, ME, a sister, Betty and Joseph Cappatt of West Pittsburg, 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by a daughter in infancy, a grandson, 5 brothers; Henry, Paul, Joseph, Louis and Frank Tomon and 2 sisters, Clara DeRicco and Mary Reneau.
Friends may call at the Joseph A. Tomon, Jr. Funeral Home and Crematory, 97 Grim Avenue, Ellport on Friday, August 25, 2017 from 5 to 8 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 11 AM at St. Mary’s Church, 124 North Beaver Street, New Castle. Interment will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
