Mr. Lester C. Ruby, 93, of Koppel passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2017 in the Good Samaritan Hospice.
Lester was born on December 20, 1923 in Koppel to the late Norman S. and Anna Baker Ruby. He enlisted with the U.S. Army on February 22, 1943 and served with the Head Quarter Company 2nd Battalion 71st Infantry of the 44th Division until his discharge on November 6, 1945. He fought in the battles of the Rhineland, Northern Europe, and Central Europe and was awarded 3 bronze stars, and the combat infantryman badge. Lester had worked at Geneva Paint & Glass later known as Pittsburgh Plate Glass for 3 years, the Babcock and Wilcox Steel Mill in Beaver Falls in the bending shop, the L.C. Ruby Mirror & Glass, and was a partner in the N.S. Ruby Inc. framing company in Koppel.
Lester is survived by his sister, Cleora Burson of Florida and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Anna Blower, Faye Ruby, and Leila Biega, and his brothers, Raymond, Lewis, Ralph, James, and Norman Ruby. As per Lester’s wishes there will not be a public visitation or service. Inurnment will be at the Clinton Cemetery. The funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home, Inc. and Cremation Services.
