James L. Ray, 82

RayJames L. Ray, 82, of Ellwood Road, Wayne Township, passed away in his residence on Tuesday, February 7, 2017.

Born in Queen’s Junction, Butler County, on February 11, 1934, James was the son of the late J. Harold and Mary Marjorie Armstrong Ray. He married the former Mary Elizabeth “Beth” Flecken on June 27, 1958. James was a member of Harmony Baptist Church. He retired as a press operator from the Ellwood City Forge after 40 years of service. James and Beth enjoyed camping and traveling together. They spent 17 years volunteering at Camp Gilead in Polk City, Florida. James also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandson.

James is survived by his wife, Beth Ray, at home, three sons; Dave Ray and Rhonda Fife of Mentor, OH, Darryll and Elaine Ray of New Castle, PA, Richard and Kerry Ray of Chesapeake, VA and a daughter, Linda and Tom Tillia of Ellwood City, 8 grandchildren; David, Nicole, Johnathan and Dakota Ray, Micaiah and Blaze Bintrim, Olivia and Elisabeth Ray, a great-grandson, Richard Young, three sisters; Helen and Richard Cable of West Salem, OH, Flora VanGorder of Ellport, Linda and Paul Flecken of Asheboro, NC and a brother, Robert and Shirley Ray of Portersville.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by a daughter in infancy and two sons, Douglas and Duane.

A Memorial Service will be held for James at a later date.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Joseph A. Tomon, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 97 Grim Avenue, Ellport.
