Mr. Frank J. Wallace, Jr., 88, of Perry Twp. passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2016 in the Butler Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Wallace was born on November 23, 1928 in Gary, Indiana to the late Frank J. Wallace, Sr. and Essie Majors Wallace. Frank graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1947. He enlisted with the U.S. Navy on September 6, 1950 and served on the USS Las Angeles as a fire control technician near Korea until 1952 at which time he served on the USS Randolph in the Mediterranean Sea until his discharge on January 29, 1954. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Navy Occupation Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. Following his service with the Navy, Frank graduated from the Milwaukee School of Engineering with an Associates Degree in Electrical Technology. He had worked at the Babcock & Wilcox Steel Mill in Koppel from 1959 to 1989 as an electrician. After the mill closed, Frank worked at Weyerhauser for 4 years, and then with Cannon USA for 10 years. Frank was an active member of the Bell Memorial Church, and the Wurtemburg Perry Volunteer Fire Department for over 40 years. He enjoyed fishing, mainly in Canada where he would go twice a year, hunting, and helping his son FJ remodel his home in Shenango Twp.. Frank also loved his grandchildren and enjoyed working with them on projects around the house.
Frank is survived by his wife, Dorothy “Dottie” McAnallen Wallace who he married on February 18, 1961, his sons, Frank J. “FJ” (Deanna) Wallace, and Nelson D. Wallace both of Shenango Twp., his grandchildren, Dan, Jason, Emily, Eric, and Jayden Wallace, his sister, Bonnie (Remi) Planche of Montreal, Canada, and his sister-in-law, Darlene Burton of Midland. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother-in-law, John Burton and his sister Gloria Mae Wallace in infancy.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm in the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home, Inc. and Cremation Services, and on Thursday from 10-11 am in the Bell Memorial Presbyterian Church. A Service for Frank will be held on Thursday at 11:00 am in the Bell Memorial Presbyterian Church with Rev. Ray Medina officiating. Interment will be at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Perry Twp.. Memorial contributions in Mr. Wallace’s name may be made to the Bell Memorial Presbyterian Church, 610 Line Ave., Ellwood City, Pa 16117.
