Margaret A. Sofelkanich Rowse, 83

Margaret A. Sofelkanich Rowse, 83,  of Brighton Township, Beaver PA, formerly of Ellwood City and Monaca, passed away peacefully at her home,  surrounded by her loving family,  on Tuesday morning,  December 13 2016,

She was born in Ellwood City on July 26 1933 to the late Andrew and  Martha Cholak Yacko.

She graduated in 1951 from Lincoln High School in Ellwood City, and  recently attended her 65th class reunion.   She was a member of the Jehovah’s  Witnesses.   Margaret  enjoyed reading  the  Bible,  and looked forward to living in God’s Kingdom  one day.

Margaret  enjoyed cooking and baking,  and was known for her stuffed cabbage, delicious  pies,  homemade pizza, and other  family favorites.  She  enjoyed painting pictures, birdwatching, and gardening. Her flowers were always beautiful, especially her geraniums.   Her days were often spent watching her favorite TV shows, “The Price Is Right” and “Jeopardy”.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles George  “Bill” Sofelkanich, who died October 15 1982.

She is survived by one son, Michael E. Sofelkanich of Ellwood City, and by one daughter and son-in-law,  Alice and  George Loncar of Brighton Twp.  with whom she resided.

Four grandchildren also survive:  Aaron Sofelkanich of New Castle; Travis  Loncar (Laryssa Richards) of Pittsburgh; and Lucas and Logan Loncar ( Brittany Barto),   of Brighton Twp.

One sister, Betty Jinar of Ellwood City, also survives as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by one brother, Michael Yacko; and by six sisters: Mary Ann Arkett,  Alice Yacko, Martha Moerele, Helen Aiken, Rose Cole, and Evelyn MacLean.

No public visitation is planned, and  private services will be held.

Burial will be in Locust Grove Cemetery, North Sewickley.

The TURNER FUNERAL HOME,  500 6th Street, Ellwood City, is entrusted with arrangements.

Memorial donations may be made to the Beaver Co. Humane Society, 3394 Brodhead Rd.,  Aliquippa PA 15001.

Margaret’s  family wish to thank   Dr. Ann Marie Ray, Progressive Home Care-R.N.  Jennifer, Physical Therapist- Kelly, Dr. David Lasorda- Interventional Cardiologist from AGH whose balloon valvuloplasty procedure extended our mothers life,  and VITAS Hospice: Dr. John Rocchi, Stephanie Grey R.N., and Nursing Assistants Danene and Heather. We are grateful for all of your care. Our mother loved all of you. She left us with wonderful memories that will remain forever in our hearts.
