CCBC Student Awarded First National Bank Culinary Arts Scholarship

Monaca, PA –Culinary arts student Brooke Karlheim is this year’s recipient of the First National Bank Culinary Arts scholarship. The scholarship is awarded each year at the CCBC Foundation HollyDay Auction and Gala to a first-year student moving into his or her final year of culinary studies.

“First National Bank greatly values our relationship with CCBC and is happy to be able to help further the education of their very talented students with this scholarship program,” said Gerard Gloekler, Vice President/Market Manager for First National Bank.

Karlheim is currently employed at Texas Roadhouse in Monaca, where she is participating in the Manager in Training program. In the future, she hopes to open her own bakery.

“Knowing there are so many people out there who are encouraging me to go to school and continue to learn is inspiring. I truly love what I am doing and I hope I can continue to do this for a very long time,” said Karlheim.

In 2011, First National Bank and CCBC Foundation established the First National Bank Culinary Arts Scholarship endowment to recognize the longtime support of First National Bank. Since then, First National Bank has awarded a culinary arts student with the scholarship every year as part of the HollyDay celebration. CCBC Culinary Arts students also prepare and serve hors d’oeuvres and desserts each year at HollyDay.

All funds raised during the event, which this year totaled over $17,000, are used to support the College’s Presidential Scholarship, as well as other CCBC Foundation-related scholarships, and make a difference in the lives of our students every day. HollyDay was made possible through donations of holiday décor, gift baskets, gift cards, sponsorships, and more from local businesses and community leaders.
